Dortmund
The city of Dortmund can be reached by train within a few minutes; public transport is highly recommendable as Dortmund possess a well-developed underground network. Here you will find anything your heart desires (apart from mountains and the seaside): Our tips: pay a visit to the Signal Iduna Park - home of Borussia Dortmund, the Westfalen Park, the Romberg Park, the zoological gardens, the golf course, the horse racecourse, the concert hall and the municipal theatre. These sights are all situated at distance of roughly 1 mile from the city.
Fröndenberg
Fröndenberg, with its 9-hole and 18-hole golf courses, enjoys an ideal location in the midst of the green countryside. The distance to the golf courses is about 7,5 km.
Hamm
Situated at the River Lippe at a slightly more northern position, the city of Hamm can be reached by train (ICE) within approx. 10 minutes. Noteworthy sights include the Lippe meadows, the Maximilian park, and the Gustav-Lübcke-Museum which offers expositions of Egyptian art and 20-century paintings.
Kamen
Kamen plays a considerable part in aviation, including an international kite festival and a glideport.
Werne
The old Munsterland city of Werne (on the River Lippe) is thoroughly characterized by salt, thanks its brine bath and the saline region.
Sauerland
The Sauerland (i.e. "Southern Land"), an idyllic low mountain region, also harbours fascinating reservoirs (including those of the Möhne, Sorpe, Henne, Diemel and Bigge rivers) and stalactite caves, all surrounded by vast green forests.
Worth mentioning are even the adventure park Fort Fun and the wildlife park Willingen and the famous Karl May Festival in Elspe.
During the winter months, the Sauerland is even very popular for skiing and sledging.
